The doljabi (돌잡이) is a Korean tradition that takes place on a baby’s first birthday, wherein the baby selects from a set of objects, one that symbolizes their path in life.

On my doljabi, I chose the pencil.

Now, I write upmarket and literary fiction, essays, and poetry based on my experiences as a child of immigrants and millennial goofball living in these strange times.
